In recent years, the Ethiopian music scene has witnessed the birth of Amharic rap. The taboo associated with singing rap in Amharic seems to have been weakened by the success of a few emerging rappers. The iconic achievement of Teddy Yo's 'Gurage Ton' and Yoseph Gebre's (Jossy) 'Metahwa' [Here I Come] are signs of such a change. Artist Chachi Taddesse one of the founding members of the newly established transport firm Alliance Transport S.C

Addis Ababa, November 5 (WIC) - A newly established transport company, Alliance Transport S.C., is to introduce a modern city transport service here.

According to AfricaNews, the company is to import 100 to 120 buses from Europe to begin operations in Addis Ababa.

Teddy Donates 1.1m Br

Ethiopian singer-songwriter Tewodros Kassahun, a.k.a Teddy Afro, handed over more than 1.1 million Br to a local NGO, Elshadai Relief & Development Association on Friday October 29, 2009. The money was obtained from a concert the singer had performed at Addis Ababa Stadium on October 11, 2009 to help people with a life of begging.

2010 World Cup Trophy to be displayed in Ethiopia next month

Teddy Afro to perform his first concert since his release at AA Stadium



Ethiopian Singing sensation, Tewodros Kassahun, popularly known as Teddy Afro, is to perform his first public concert since his release from Kality Prison at Addis Ababa Stadium on October 11. At his first press conference since his release three weeks ago, Teddy said that the profit from the concert will contribute to a project to eliminate begging and street living from the country being undertaken by Elshaday Relief and Development Association, a local NGO.
